The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) has denied rumours suggesting that a former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus), identified by the initials FA, performed the umrah pilgrimage after being named a suspect in alleged corruption and money laundering cases. “That is not true. How could he go for umrah? He has been prevented from travelling by investigators from the outset,” said Head of the Attorney General’s Office Legal Information Centre, Anang Supriatna, at the AGO Main Building in Jakarta on Monday (13/7). Anang confirmed that FA remains in Indonesia and is under the investigators’ supervision. “What is certain is that the person concerned is still in Indonesia, has not gone abroad, is cooperative, and is under the investigators’ watch,” he stated. The clarification follows a social media post claiming FA flew to the Holy Land after resigning and being named a suspect, allegedly before immigration imposed a travel ban. Meanwhile, the Directorate General of Immigration at the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections has enforced a travel ban against FA. The directorate also imposed a similar ban on DR, or Don Ritto, another corruption suspect named alongside FA. The prevention order was issued based on a request from the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Metro Jaya Regional Police, via letter number B/12730/VII/RES.3.3/2026/Ditreskrimsus dated 11 July 2026. The overseas travel ban for FA and DR is valid for 20 days in accordance with applicable regulations. Previously, on Saturday (11/7), the National Police named FA and DR as suspects in three separate cases of alleged corruption and money laundering. The suspect designations followed a joint investigation by the Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps (Kortastipidkor) and the Metro Jaya Regional Police into alleged coal governance corruption, alleged corruption at PT Asabri and PT Jiwasraya for the 2020–2025 period, and alleged money laundering related to the settlement of PT CBS’s debt to PT KNI.
