The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) has confirmed that the investigation into alleged corruption in the governance of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme at the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) is continuing. Head of the AGO’s Legal Information Centre, Anang Supriatna, stated that the investigation process is proceeding as it should. “The investigation is continuing according to the mechanism and provisions,” Anang told reporters on Wednesday, 15 July 2026. He explained that investigators are still examining all legal facts in the case, and the number of witnesses questioned has now exceeded 50. “The examination of witnesses has been quite extensive, already more than 50 people,” he said.

Furthermore, the AGO confirmed that the rejection of a justice collaborator application by the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) for suspect Sony Sonjaya has not affected the direction of the investigation. Anang stated that the investigative team remains focused on their work and respects the authority of other institutions. “Regarding the rejection of the JC by LPSK, we fully respect the authority of the LPSK, and investigators are carrying out their duties carefully while respecting the presumption of innocence,” Anang said.

To date, the AGO has named seven suspects in the case. In addition to Sony Sonjaya, the suspects include Asep Yusuf Somantri, Commissioner of PT Yasa Artha Trimanunggal Andri Mulyono, and Chairman of the Indonesia Food Security Review Foundation Glory Harimas Sihombing. The most recent suspect named is an active police officer, Brigadier General Lalu Muhammad Iwan Mahardan, who previously served as Head of the Legal and Public Relations Bureau at the BGN. Investigators allege the suspects committed various irregularities in the procurement of goods and services to support the MBG programme.
