AGO clarifies

With reference to your news story titled Attorney General Rachman under fire for lavish party published in The Jakarta Post on June 15, the following is conveyed to avoid confusion on the part of the public: * It is not true that the wedding party for the daughter of Attorney General H. M.A. Rachman SH was a lavish one. The wedding party, which was held in accordance with the Acehnese tradition, was very festive as the number of guests exceeded the number of invitation cards issued. * Many of the guests came without any invitation cards. These especially included staff members from the prosecutor's offices in areas where M.A. Rachman had previously been posted, and also from other regions, as M.A. Rachman has always been close to his subordinates.

The wedding party itself was not as expensive as was alleged in the press.
