The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri) have stated they are prepared to face two pretrial motions to be filed by former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah. The Head of the Attorney General’s Office Legal Information Centre, Anang Supriatna, said on Tuesday (4/8/2026) that filing a pretrial motion is the right of the suspect and their legal counsel as regulated in the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP). Separately, the Head of Operations for the Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps (Kortas Tipikor), Commissioner Ahmad Yusuf Afandi, said his party respects the legal steps to be taken by Febrie and that the corps is ready to face the pretrial lawsuit.

During a press conference in Senayan, Central Jakarta, Febrie’s legal team announced plans to file two separate pretrial motions. The first motion targets the Attorney General’s Office, focusing on the compulsory measures of naming him a suspect in a money laundering case and his subsequent detention. The second motion is directed at the Kortas Tipikor and the Metro Jaya Regional Police, challenging the compulsory measures of suspect designation, search, and seizure in a corruption and money laundering case.

Lawyer Firman Wijaya stated that the decision to file the motions was made after the legal team identified alleged irregularities in the case handling process. He claimed the team has identified at least nine potential violations of law, particularly criminal procedural law. Febrie Adriansyah was initially named a suspect by the Kortas Tipikor before the case was transferred to the Attorney General’s Office, which subsequently issued three new investigation warrants and named him a suspect in the Asabri corruption and money laundering cases.
