Agency will punish 7 entertainment centers

JAKARTA (JP): The City Public Order Office will punish seven
entertainment centers for violating New Year's eve regulations.

An official from the office, Toha Reno, said yesterday that
the entertainment centers either failed to obtain the special New
Year's eve operating permit, violated opening hours or increased
their cover charges.

Toha said the Benny Scorpion bar on Jl. Garuda, the Arirang II
restaurant on Jl. Gereja Theresia, the Padussi Cafe in Kemang,
and the Sari Laut Restaurant in Kuningan had no permits. The
Wisata Hotel International offered a door prize without a permit
at a party for PT Harta Persada Interfreight.

The Tavern pub in the Aryaduta hotel in Central Jakarta was
discovered charging Rp 139,000 a person without permission, and
the Rasa Sayang bar & discotheque in West Jakarta stayed opened
until 5.30 a.m., he said.

"These places will be fined or closed down for a month," Toha
said.

A city regulation stipulates that all parties must end by 4
a.m.

The regulation stipulates that ticket prices for New Year's
eve parties at four and five-star hotels and the Jakarta
Convention Center cannot exceed Rp 750,000 a person. The price at
one, two and three-star hotels can hit Rp 500,000.

The top entrance fee for shows at non-rated hotels is fixed at
Rp 250,000, while nightclubs must charge under Rp 400,000. The
entrance fee for discotheques cannot exceed Rp 250,000, and
restaurants, pubs, bars and coffee shops must charge below Rp
200,000. Movie theaters can charge up to Rp 75,000 a show.(yns)
