Agam PKK Distributes Basic Necessities to Residents in Temporary Shelters
The Family Empowerment and Welfare Team (TP-PKK) of Agam Regency, West Sumatra, has distributed social assistance in the form of basic necessities to residents living in temporary shelters in Tamtaman, Nagari Tigo Koto Silungkang, Palembayan District. Agam TP-PKK Chairperson Merry Benni Warlis stated that the aid distributed consisted of daily essentials such as eggs, sugar, cooking oil, and other foodstuffs. “The aid comes from donations and contributions from various parties who care about the disaster-affected communities in Agam,” she said. She noted that the assistance was a form of concern and attention for residents who are still living in temporary shelters following the flash flood that hit the area at the end of November 2025. “Alhamdulillah, from the collected donations, we were able to distribute 51 packages of basic necessities. This number corresponds to the number of heads of families currently occupying the Tamtaman temporary shelters,” she said. She expressed hope that the aid provided would help meet the residents’ daily needs while also encouraging them to keep rising and reorganise their lives after being affected by the disaster. “We hope this assistance is beneficial for the recipient community and becomes a charitable deed for all our brothers and sisters who have set aside a portion of their sustenance to help disaster-affected residents,” she said. In addition to handing over the aid, she also took the opportunity to dialogue with the shelter residents to hear firsthand about the conditions and needs they face while living in the temporary housing. One of the Tamtaman shelter residents, Sutan Malin, expressed gratitude and thanks for the attention given by the Agam TP-PKK Chairperson and the donors. “We are very grateful for the assistance provided. This aid is very meaningful to us and can help meet our families’ daily needs,” he said.
