Agam PKK Distributes Basic Necessities to Residents in Temporary Shelters

Lubuk Basung (ANTARA) - The Family Empowerment and Welfare Team (TP-PKK) of Agam Regency, West Sumatra, has distributed social assistance in the form of basic food staples to residents living in the Tamtaman temporary housing site (huntara) in Nagari Tigo Koto Silungkang, Palembayan District.

Merry Benni Warlis, Chairwoman of the Agam Regency TP-PKK, said in Lubuk Basung on Sunday that the assistance distributed consisted of daily necessities such as eggs, sugar, cooking oil and other food items.

“The assistance comes from donations and contributions from various parties who care about communities affected by the disaster in Agam,” she said.

She said the aid was a form of care and attention for residents who are still living in temporary housing following the flash floods that struck the area in late November 2025.

“Alhamdulillah, from the contributions and donations collected, we were able to distribute 51 packages of basic food supplies. This number corresponds to the number of household heads currently occupying the Tamtaman temporary housing site,” she said.

She expressed hope that the assistance would help meet residents’ daily needs and give them encouragement to recover and rebuild lives disrupted by the disaster.

“We hope this assistance benefits the recipients and becomes a charitable act for all our brothers and sisters who have set aside part of their sustenance to help disaster-affected residents,” she said.

In addition to handing over the assistance, she also took the opportunity to speak with the temporary housing residents to hear directly about their conditions and needs while living at the site.

Sutan Malin, a resident of the Tamtaman temporary housing site, expressed gratitude and thanks for the attention shown by the Chairwoman of the Agam TP-PKK and the donors.

“We are very grateful for the assistance provided. This aid means a great deal to us and can help meet our families’ daily needs,” he said.
