The Agam Regency Government in West Sumatra has allocated Rp34.69 billion in 2026 to repair 20 bridges damaged by hydrometeorological disasters that struck the region at the end of November 2025. Head of the Agam Communication and Informatics Office Roza Syafdefianti stated on Sunday that the funds will be used to restore bridges spread across the sub-districts of Tilatang Kamang, Canduang, Malalak, Palupuh, Ampek Koto, Tanjung Raya, Palembayan, Lubuk Basung, and others. She said the bridges will be rebuilt with the smallest budget being Rp400 million and the largest Rp5.21 billion. The Rp5.21 billion allocation is for the construction of the Sini Aia Bridge in Balai Satu, South Malalak, Malalak Sub-district. Meanwhile, the Batu Bata Bridge in Nagari Tigo Koto Silungkang, Palembayan Sub-district, will receive Rp4.78 billion, the Bukik Batabuah Bridge in Canduang Sub-district Rp3.65 billion, and the Batang Tumayo Bridge in Tanjung Raya Sub-district Rp3.65 billion. The bridge construction funds are sourced from Regional Transfers (TKD) amounting to Rp33.09 billion for 18 bridges, a General Allocation Fund (DAU) of Rp400 million for the Pinang Balirik Bridge in Nagari Koto Tangah, Tilatang Kamang Sub-district, and a Special Financial Assistance (BKK) allocation of Rp1.2 billion for the MTsN Bridge in Ampek Koto Sub-district. Roza noted that the BKK funds are the remainder of the 2025 disaster-related special financial assistance. She acknowledged that rebuilding the 20 bridges is intended to accelerate the recovery of affected infrastructure, restore community economic activity, and ensure public services continue to operate. The construction also aims to enhance infrastructure resilience against future disaster risks, strengthen inter-agency coordination in disaster management, and achieve a swift, precise, and sustainable recovery. “This also reduces the social and economic impact of the disaster,” she said.
