Aftershocks continue to occur after the main earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7 struck Flores, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). The number of aftershocks has now reached 10,232 events.

According to the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the data was compiled on Monday (31/8/2026) at 05.00 WIB. The largest aftershock magnitude was 6.2 and the smallest was M 1.0.

“Update on aftershocks of the Flores M 7.7 earthquake up to 31 August 2026 at 05.00 WIB, total aftershocks: 10,232,” wrote BMKG.

Meanwhile, there were 35 events with a magnitude above 5. Aftershocks felt by the public numbered 157 events.

“Magnitude above 5: 35. Aftershocks felt: 157,” wrote BMKG.

BMKG said the decay graph is beginning to show a downward pattern. Aftershocks are estimated to last around 3-4 weeks.

Meanwhile, Head of Data and Information at BNPB, Berton SP Panjaitan, during a press conference on BNPB’s YouTube channel on Sunday (30/8), said that to date there have been no further reports of fatalities from the NTT earthquake. The total number of deaths stands at 111 people.

“After the earthquake occurred, we also received reports of fatalities and injuries. As of today and over the past few days, we have not received any further reports of new deaths, so the total number of deaths is 111 people,” he said.
