Aftermath of Student Poisoning: SPPG Bogowanti in Blora Suspended

The Head of Administration for the Semarang Nutrition Fulfilment Service Office (KPPG), Bagus Anindito, has revealed that the operational activities of the Bogowanti Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG) in Blora Regency, Central Java, have been temporarily halted. This follows a suspected food poisoning case linked to the Free Nutritious Meals programme, which resulted in 19 students from SDN Sendangrejo requiring medical treatment. “The SPPG’s operations have been temporarily suspended. So, whenever there is a prominent incident of food poisoning or digestive disorders, the SPPG will be temporarily suspended,” Bagus said during an interview regarding the suspected MBG poisoning case at SDN Sendangrejo on Wednesday (22/7/2026). He added that the Blora Regional Coordinator of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) will subsequently conduct an investigation and evaluation of the Bogowanti SPPG. According to Bagus, the suspension of an SPPG can be applied for a maximum of three months. Bagus disclosed that he had received a report on the suspected poisoning case at SDN Sendangrejo. “So, the milk might have been spoiled. This indicates a lack of supervision from the SPPG,” he stated. Although the milk served to the students was packaged milk, Bagus argued that this did not guarantee the absence of contamination. “Packaged milk, especially those circulating in the market, can become contaminated even if it has a single pinhole leak,” he said.
