A hospital employee named Norma Zahara has faced strong public criticism after posting an unsympathetic comment on a social media post by Yurizal Tri Chaerawan. The case began when Yurizal shared his experience of waiting eight hours for treatment without getting a room.

“8 hours and still no room, I don’t want to name the hospital because I use BPJS,” he wrote.

The post was then responded to by a number of healthcare workers, including Norma Zahara. She said that waiting up to eight hours was normal. The public was angered by her comment because it was laced with harsh words.

“Yuriz is a poor person, poor in wealth, poor in knowledge, poor in sense, but wants to be given special treatment. 8 hours is very normal, especially since the hospital you mentioned is a national referral hospital. Maybe it’s like HS Bandung Hospital or Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital in Jakarta, right? Can I say something? YOU ARE STUPID, YOU TALK TOO MUCH,” the account holder commented.

Following the unsympathetic comment posted on Yurizal’s Threads account, Dr Soekardjo Regional Hospital, where she works, spoke out. Through an official written statement, the hospital explained that the person concerned is an administrative employee.

“In connection with the information circulating in the community regarding one of the employees of Dr Soekardjo Regional Hospital, we confirm that the person concerned is indeed an employee of Dr Soekardjo Regional Hospital who works in the administration section,” the hospital said in a statement quoted from the official Instagram account of Dr Soekardjo Regional Hospital on Thursday, 6 August 2026.

The case has also been followed up by hospital management. The person concerned has now been given a sanction.

“The management of Dr Soekardjo Regional Hospital has followed up on the matter in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures and applicable regulations. As a form of disciplinary enforcement, the person concerned has been given a sanction and is undergoing continuous coaching so that similar incidents do not recur,” the hospital’s official statement continued.

Dr Soekardjo Regional Hospital emphasised its commitment to maintaining professionalism, integrity and quality of service to the public.

“Any violation, no matter how small, will be handled objectively, proportionally and in accordance with applicable regulations,” the hospital’s official statement concluded.
