Aftermath of Deadly Clash in Menteng: Building Rubble and Burnt Motorcycles

Police conducting a scene examination following a deadly clash between residents and a group of people on Jalan Tambak, Menteng, Central Jakarta, found building rubble and completely burnt vehicles.

Based on observations at the location on Sunday (26/7/2026), a vacant plot of land in the Jalan Tambak area was in disarray. Several motorcycle units were seen burnt out, with only structural debris remaining of the buildings.

“At the crime scene we found debris, debris from burnt buildings, as well as burnt vehicles, also traces of blood and blood-stained stones,” said Central Jakarta Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKBP Roby Heri Saputra at the location.

However, Roby stated that no other evidence had been found at the scene. Sharp weapons had also not been discovered around the incident site.

“For now, we have not found any sharp weapons that were used or that we could find at the location,” he said.

The police are also investigating the group that was residing on the vacant land where the incident occurred. Their legal status remains unclear.

“What we know is that they were living here, occupying it, but regarding the legality or their status in this place, we are still investigating,” he said.

Police previously revealed the initial trigger for the deadly clash between residents and a group of people on Jalan Tambak, Menteng. The incident began with an argument involving someone who felt poorly served when buying nasi uduk for breakfast.

The nasi uduk seller operates on Jalan Matraman Dalam, the initial point of the disturbance. However, the commotion spread when the group clashed with local residents.

“So, a member of the group that was attacked came to buy breakfast, and perhaps because they were not served well or were displeased, they revved their vehicle engine. Then they left,” Roby said at the scene.
