After Winning First Place in the NTB Level LKBB-PB Competition, SMAN 9 Mataram Aims for National Title
In the competition held at the Sangkareang Field on Saturday (16/5), which was participated by 10 high schools and equivalent from across NTB, SMAN 9 Mataram collected a total of 8,365 points. They narrowly beat MAN 1 Lombok Timur, who scored 8,220 points in second place, and MAN 2 Mataram with 7,980 points in third place.
The small point difference made the students of SMAN 9 Mataram initially disbelieve that they had won first place at the provincial level.
“We didn’t expect to win first place in the province. We saw that other schools were well-prepared and their performances were very good. The narrow margin made us not believe it. But, in the end, we are happy to be able to emerge as champions,” said the team leader, Laksmana Bayugentha Pramono, in a written statement on Sunday (17/5/2026).
The 11th-grade student at SMAN 9 Mataram admitted that the competition in the national finals in Jakarta would be much tougher because all participants are champions from their respective provinces.
“Our opponents in Jakarta will all be provincial champions, so it will certainly be very difficult. But we will continue to try and prepare ourselves by continuing to practice and fixing the mistakes that occurred in previous competitions,” he said.
The coach of SMAN 9 Mataram, Alfin Ariyanto, expressed pride in the hard work and discipline of the students which led them to win the provincial-level title.
“Of course, I’m proud. Their efforts to achieve the champion title were very intense; we implemented strong discipline. To face the finals in Jakarta, we will certainly prepare even better. The main thing is that we will win the national title,” said Alfin.
The LKBB-PB event was the result of cooperation between the MPR RI (People’s Consultative Assembly), the NTB Provincial Government, and Purna Paskibraka Indonesia to strengthen nationalism among young people.
A total of 10 schools participated in the NTB provincial selection, namely SMAN 1 Kuripan, SMAN 3 Mataram, SMAN 1 Selong, SMAN 1 Mataram, MAN 1 Lombok Barat, MAN 2 Mataram, SMAN 2 Mataram, SMAN 9 Mataram, MAN 1 Lombok Timur, and MAN 2 Kota Bima.
Each school was represented by 12 students and one team leader who demonstrated their marching skills, flag-raising process, and formation creativity.
The assessment was carried out by a panel of judges consisting of elements from the TNI AD (Army), Polri (Police), and PPI (Indonesian Student Association). At the end of the competition, three schools were named champions and two schools were disqualified.
The chairman of the judging team from PPI, Arif Rahman, ensured that the assessment process was carried out objectively and professionally.
“The values displayed by our friends are truly pure. That is the best,” he said in front of the participants.
