After Waiting a Month, Rubbish in Kavling Lorisakti, North Bekasi Finally Collected

The Bekasi City Environmental Agency (DLH) has assisted in the process of removing a pile of household waste that had not been collected for more than a month, belonging to residents of Kavling Lorisakti Housing RT006/01, Kaliabang Tengah Ward, North Bekasi Subdistrict. “That is private sector service, but we will help with the waste collection,” said the Head of DLH Bekasi City, Kiswatiningsih, in her statement on Thursday (9/4). Kiswatiningsih admitted that she had instructed her staff to immediately process the collection of the aforementioned waste after receiving information about the pile of household waste, as a form of quick response to handling community social issues. “Officers are currently at the location. They have already conducted clarification with Mr RT 06 RW 01 Gang Lori Kavling 2,” she said. She urged residents to immediately report to the local government if they experience similar problems so that officers can follow up without having to wait for handling from the private sector responsible for waste management in the area. DLH Bekasi City also routinely cleans waste in public areas, including facilities and public amenities in the North Bekasi Subdistrict area, which is often used as an illegal dumping site by irresponsible individuals. “We have been routinely patrolling to collect stray waste in that area. We also earnestly request residents not to litter indiscriminately because it will cause adverse impacts on the environment and health,” she stated. Previously reported, residents living in the Kavling Lorisakti Complex RT006/01, Kaliabang Tengah Ward, North Bekasi Subdistrict, Bekasi City, complained about the pile of waste that had not been collected for more than a month. They complained about the unpleasant smell and disrupted comfort due to the pile of household waste belonging to the residents. As a result of that condition, hundreds of residents in the environment refused to pay the rubbish levy bill of Rp20,000 per month that had been set, because they considered it not commensurate with the service received. “For more than a month, no officers came to collect the waste. If the service is like this, how can we be asked to pay,” said one of the residents.
