After Visiting Senen Railway Trackside, Prabowo Orders Officials to Build Decent Housing
JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto has directly ordered his officials to build decent housing for residents living in the area along the railway tracks in Senen, Central Jakarta. Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya disclosed that the Head of State’s instruction was issued immediately after a direct visit to the residents’ settlement along the Senen railway tracks on Thursday (26/3/2026). According to him, the initial process for constructing the housing is proceeding without delay. This swift step, he said, was decided right after President Prabowo heard directly about the residents’ conditions, who have long lived in limitations. Moreover, many of them have been settled in the railway trackside area for decades with very minimal facilities. “According to the residents’ accounts, they have been living along the railway tracks for decades with limited housing and roofs. And the President wants these residents to be provided with proper places to live and sanitation facilities (MCK) as soon as possible,” Teddy explained. According to him, this policy goes beyond mere relocation, as it is designed with a humanitarian approach and ensures that residents stay close to their social environment and sources of livelihood.
