The subdistrict head of Lamba Leda Utara, East Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), Agustinus Supratman, has announced his resignation from office. Agustinus said he had formally submitted his resignation to the East Manggarai Regent as of 23 August 2026.
“On this occasion, I wish to convey one important piece of information to prevent any confusion out there: as of 23 August 2026, I, Agustinus Supratman, have declared through an official letter to the East Manggarai Regent my resignation from the position of Subdistrict Head of Lamba Leda Utara. Agustinus acknowledged that his decision was seen as ill-timed amid the disaster currently affecting NTT. However, he stressed that the decision was taken for the common good and the greater interests of the people of Lamba Leda Utara.
“This decision is indeed not proper in a situation like this. But this decision had to be taken for the common good and for the greater interests of Lamba Leda Utara,” he said.
He also explained that the decision was made without pressure from any party.
“This decision is without pressure, once again, a decision without pressure. This decision is purely our own small family’s decision for the common good and for the greater interests of Lamba Leda Utara,” he said.
Despite resigning from his post as subdistrict head, Agustinus stated that he would continue to assist the people of North Lambaleda, particularly residents affected by the earthquake. He said he would be involved in disaster management through volunteer channels.
