After Two Warning Letters, Meta Visits Komdigi Office

Meta visited the office of the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) on Monday (6/4/2026). This was done after the parent company of Instagram and Facebook received two summons letters from the ministry regarding compliance with the PP Tunas regulations. According to information obtained by CNBC Indonesia, Meta met with the Director General of Digital Supervision, Alexander Sabar. The meeting took place around 10:00 WIB and ended around 14:35 WIB. The Meta team seen arriving at the Komdigi office in Central Jakarta consisted of five people. One of them was Meta’s Head of Public Policy for Indonesia and the Philippines, Berni Moestafa. It is not yet known exactly what was discussed by both parties in that meeting. Berni also did not provide any information when asked by the media. “Thank you for your attention, at this time I cannot provide comments,” he said. The Komdigi Ministry has not yet given any statement regarding the meeting. Meta was given two summons letters, along with Google, which were said to be non-compliant with the PP Tunas regulations. The two technology giants have not yet fulfilled the restrictions on social media use for users under 16 years old, like other social media platforms. “Today we issued the second summons letter to the relevant parties. According to the provisions, summons can be carried out up to a maximum of three times before sanctions are imposed. This process is carried out in accordance with Article 32 paragraph (2) of Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 and Article 44 paragraph (2) of the Minister of Communication and Digital Regulation Number 9 of 2026,” said Alexander in his official statement. According to him, compliance with child protection regulations is not just a matter of administrative obligations. But it is a responsibility regarding the impact of child safety in the digital space. “Every delay extends the risks faced by children in the digital space. Therefore, we demand concrete and timely compliance from all platforms, including global platforms,” he stated.
