JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Indonesia’s Consumer Confidence Index (IKK) rose slightly in April 2026, following declines over two consecutive months in February and March.

Bank Indonesia (BI) data shows that the IKK for April increased to 123 from 122.9 in March. On a monthly basis, the index rose by 0.1 points, reversing the direction from March, which weakened by 2.3 points from February’s level of 125.1.

The IKK is an economic indicator that measures consumer optimism regarding current economic conditions and future expectations.

Head of BI’s Communication Department, Ramdan Denny Prakoso, stated that the April IKK remains at an optimistic level or above the threshold of 100.

“The Bank Indonesia Consumer Survey in April 2026 indicates that consumer confidence in the economy remains intact,” he said in an official statement on Monday (11/5/2026).

The spending group of Rp 3.1-4 million experienced the deepest IKK decline, from 119.7 to 119. Meanwhile, the spending group of more than Rp 5 million saw the highest IKK increase, from 124.4 to 128.2.

However, when viewed by age group, the majority experienced a slight IKK increase.

The age group over 60 years recorded the deepest IKK decline, from 109.8 to 105.3. The highest IKK increase occurred in the 51-60 age group, from 115.8 to 117.6.

The IKK rise coincided with the Current Economic Condition Index (IKE) increasing to 116.5 from the previous 115.4. Meanwhile, the Consumer Expectations Index (IEK) fell to 129.6 from the previous 130.4.

The IEK decline was caused by decreases in the Income Expectations Index, Job Availability Expectations Index, and Business Activity Expectations Index to levels of 136.9, 127.7, and 124.1, respectively.

“Spatially, the IKK experienced the largest increases in Pontianak, Bandar Lampung, and Surabaya, while IKK declines occurred in places such as Medan, Mataram, and Banjarmasin,” he added.
