Police have halted the investigation into three suspects, Eggi Sudjana, Damai Hari Lubis, and Rismon Sianipar, in the case of allegations of a fake diploma against Indonesia’s 7th President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). However, the investigation into the other five suspects continues.

Police have recently issued a letter of discontinuation of investigation (SP3) for suspect Rismon Hasiholan Sianipar in this case. Rismon Sianipar’s suspect status in the case has also been dropped.

“After that, it meets the criteria in the legal mechanism, then the case is discontinued with SP3. This means that automatically the legal status of suspect for Mr RS has been revoked because he has submitted an apology and returned the situation to the initial condition of the victim,” said the Head of Public Relations of Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Budi Hermanto, to reporters on Friday (17/4/2026).

The Director of Criminal Investigation of Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Iman Imanuddin, explained that the case discontinuation process was carried out after Jokowi accepted Rismon’s apology. Rismon is known to have met Jokowi directly at his residence in Surakarta (Solo).

After that, the police facilitated a meeting between Rismon and Jokowi’s side at the Metro Jaya Police Criminal Investigation Directorate building. Jokowi’s side accepted Rismon’s apology.

The police then conducted a special case review to determine Rismon’s legal status. Iman emphasised that the discontinuation of the case for suspect Rismon does not affect the investigation process for the other suspects.

“Furthermore, the discontinuation of the investigation against Mr RHS does not nullify the investigation process against the other suspects until the trial in court,” said Iman.

For information, in this case, Metro Jaya Police has designated a total of eight people as suspects, one of whom is former Minister of Youth and Sports Roy Suryo. In its development, Eggi Sudjana, Damai Hari Lubis, and Rismon Sianipar submitted requests for RJ to the police.

The police then followed up on those requests, ultimately discontinuing their cases. Thus, five suspects remain in the case.

In the first cluster, there are suspects Kurnia Tri Royani, Rizal Fadilah, and Rustam Effendi. Meanwhile, in the second cluster, there are suspects Roy Suryo and Tifauziah Tiasuma or dr Tifa.

Roy Suryo et al Case Continues

Already three people in this case have had their suspect status revoked. However, the investigation into Roy Suryo et al continues.

“However, the investigation process against the other suspects continues until the trial stage in court,” said the Director of Criminal Investigation of Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Iman Imanuddin, to reporters on Friday (17/4).

Opt to Proceed to Court

Iman said that Roy Suryo et al have chosen to proceed to court. Currently, the case files for Roy Suryo and the other four suspects have been handed over to the DKI Jakarta High Prosecutor’s Office.

“We have designated two clusters of those suspects. Some chose the restorative justice mechanism for resolution and fulfilment of justice, and that has happened,” said Iman.

“Others chose the judicial process, so we still hand over the case files to the DKI High Prosecutor’s Office. Hopefully, legal certainty will be obtained soon,” he added.
