After State Address, Prabowo Salutes and Chats with Jokowi

President Prabowo Subianto concluded his state address at the MPR Annual Session and the Joint Session of the DPR-DPD. After the speech, he personally greeted former presidents and vice presidents, including the 7th President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

Following the session’s closure by DPD Speaker Sultan Najamuddin, Prabowo descended from the podium to greet the attendees. At approximately 11:49 AM Western Indonesian Time, he approached Jokowi. Prabowo was seen initially saluting Jokowi, who returned the salute. The two then shook hands and engaged in a brief conversation, sharing a laugh. Jokowi was also observed giving Prabowo a thumbs-up gesture.

Prabowo subsequently greeted 11th Vice President Boediono, NasDem Party Chairman Surya Paloh, and other officials. The event was followed by the opening of the 2026-2027 DPR sitting period, where House Speaker Puan Maharani delivered an opening address. Prabowo is also slated to deliver a state address and present the 2027 State Budget Bill during a DPR plenary session.
