The Jakarta Provincial Government is set to complete the construction of a road parallel to the railway line in the Pasar Minggu area, South Jakarta, by 2027. The project has remained unfinished since it was initiated under Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, also known as Ahok, in 2015.

Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo stated that he is frequently reminded about the stalled Pasar Minggu access road project, particularly after the administration recently completed other long-delayed projects. He noted that the road, which runs parallel to the railway line and passes the State Intelligence Agency (BIN), has remained incomplete across seven governors. Pramono said he held a meeting with his staff approximately two months ago, where the project was designated a priority for the Jakarta Provincial Government.

The project began during the tenure of Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (2014-2017) and continued through the administrations of Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat (2017), Governor Anies Rasyid Baswedan (2017-2022), and Pramono himself, who took office in 2025. It also spanned the terms of acting and interim governors Sumarsono, Saefullah, Budi Heru Hartono, and Teguh Setiabudi, with no progress made during any of these periods.

Pramono expressed hope that the new road will help reduce traffic congestion in the Pasar Minggu area, a key route for commuters heading towards Lenteng Agung and Depok in West Java. He directly questioned Head of the Jakarta Highways Agency, Heru Suwondo, about the project’s progress. Heru confirmed that land acquisition efforts are ongoing and are targeted for completion this year, with physical construction to follow next year.

According to Jakarta Governor Decree No. 493 of 2024, the designated location for the access road covers approximately 14,220.56 square metres in Pejaten Timur Urban Village. The location permit is valid for three years. Based on the official announcement, land acquisition was expected to be completed within 25 months, though this may be extended to the maximum three-year period. Construction is estimated to take 12 months following the handover of the acquired land.

Heru previously stated that land acquisition began last year following the 2024 location designation. However, by the end of 2025, only about 48 per cent of the 118 required land parcels had been acquired. Data from the Highways Agency shows that 59 parcels have been secured, while 59 remain in process, including eight parcels that are government assets. The remaining land acquisition is currently being processed at the South Jakarta Land Office and is expected to be completed this year.
