The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has expanded its search operations in the alleged corruption case ensnaring the suspended Regent of West Lombok, Lalu Ahmad Zaini (LAZ). After seizing at least five suitcases from the West Lombok Regent’s Office, investigators immediately proceeded to search the Regent’s Official Residence and the Office of Public Works, Spatial Planning, Housing, and Settlement Areas (PUPRPKP) of West Lombok on Thursday (23/7/2026).

Observations from the scene indicated that the searches at the two locations commenced around 15.00 WITA, shortly after investigators completed searching three rooms in the West Lombok Regent’s Office. The KPK team divided its personnel to conduct the searches simultaneously at both locations.

Before heading to the subsequent locations, investigators were seen carrying at least five suitcases suspected of containing documents and other evidence obtained from the search of the West Lombok Regent’s Office.

During the search process, the Regent’s Official Residence and the PUPRPKP Office were under tight guard by Brimob personnel from the West Nusa Tenggara Regional Police and the West Lombok Civil Service Police Unit. Unauthorised parties were prohibited from entering either area.

It is not yet known what documents or items were secured by investigators from the searches. The KPK has also not issued an official statement regarding the series of searches conducted today.

Earlier, dozens of KPK investigators had been searching the West Lombok Regent’s Office since Thursday morning. They arrived around 09.40 WITA under the escort of eight Brimob personnel from the West Nusa Tenggara Regional Police.

Investigators searched the West Lombok Regent’s work room, the work room of the Head of Procurement of Goods and Services, and another room that had previously been sealed.

Access to the rooms being examined was restricted during the search. Several employees not involved in the matter were asked not to enter the area.

Despite the search, activities at the West Lombok Regent’s Office continued as normal. Civil servants carried on with their office duties, while employees around the Procurement section were still seen entering and leaving rooms not included in the search area.

The KPK had previously conducted a sting operation at LAZ’s official residence on Monday (20/7/2026), during which investigators secured 19 individuals. Following intensive examination, the KPK named three suspects: LAZ, the President Director of PT Air Minum Giri Menang Sudirman, and the President Director of PT Meconel Sistim Instrument Alvonsus Gani.
