After Rudy Mas'ud, East Kalimantan DPRD Chairman Allocates Rp 6.8 Billion for Official Vehicle

Official vehicle procurement in East Kalimantan has come under renewed scrutiny. Following the purchase of an official vehicle by East Kalimantan Governor Rudy Mas’ud valued at Rp 8.5 billion, it has emerged that the leader of the East Kalimantan Regional Representative Council (DPRD) has allocated approximately Rp 6.8 billion for an official vehicle.

Hasanuddin Mas’ud, Chairman of the East Kalimantan DPRD and also the brother of Rudy Mas’ud, spoke about the policy. He stated that the official vehicles currently in use are on average 5 to 10 years old.

“The old vehicles are largely deteriorating, frequently require workshop repairs, and have even broken down during official journeys. In the long term, replacement is more efficient than continuous repairs,” he said, as reported by detikKalimantan on Saturday, 28 February 2026.

He stated that the procurement had undergone a rigorous process and was claimed to be for long-term efficiency. According to him, the vehicle purchase plan had been discussed at commission level through to the Budget Body alongside the Regional Government Budget Team (TAPD).

“Everything must follow standard unit price guidelines, standard spending analysis, enter the e-catalogue system, and be monitored by the inspectorate. So it cannot be done arbitrarily,” said Hasan.

Hasanuddin emphasised that vehicle procurement was not for the personal interests of the leadership. However, he stressed that the vehicles are intended to support the operational needs of the council’s supporting apparatus (AKD).

“These are for the AKD, not just for the leadership. There are vehicles for commissions, for bodies, four for leadership, not to mention later the secretariat, and the factions. These are not for one person. So this is for the entire AKD,” he explained.
