After Resigning as BGN Head, Nanik Deyang to Take Up This Position
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Nanik Deyang has stepped down from her position as Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). She confirmed this through the Facebook account of Naniek Sudaryati Deyang on Wednesday (22/7/2026).
She said she must undergo treatment abroad for a heart condition, adding that she is seeking a second opinion on her illness.
Nevertheless, she will take up a new position. In a post on the same Facebook account, she said she would serve on the BGN Supervisory Board to oversee the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme.
“I conveyed to the President, with a thousand apologies, that it seems I must step down as Head of BGN for the sake of my health, and because the President is concerned and feels for me, he approved it, but I was asked to remain involved in overseeing BGN,” she said.
“The President will likely form a supervisory board where I have been asked to serve as its chairwoman (I can still nag if things go astray, as long as it has nothing to do with handling money, I swear I am traumatised),” she added.
According to Nanik, improvements have already been made at BGN, including the creation of eleven teams to carry out a total reform.
“Starting with the refocusing team, which is verifying whether the current 62 million-plus beneficiaries are correctly targeted… The President has already approved that the MBG programme be directed more towards the 3B groups (toddlers, breastfeeding mothers and pregnant women), primary and junior secondary schoolchildren, as well as students of all school levels in the 3T regions (underdeveloped, frontier and outermost),” she stated.
“There is also an evaluation team for the 27,877 operational SPPG (Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit) kitchens, because not all SPPGs meet the requirements under the technical guidelines. Then there is a team for the MBG programme in 3T regions… most of which remain difficult to reach by public transport. There is also an efficiency team and others,” she continued.
“God willing, my successor is a junior colleague of mine whom I can tug by the ear if anything deviant happens. I will concentrate on my health first, friends,” she said.
