After Resigning as BGN Head, Nanik Deyang to Take Up This Position

Nanik Deyang has resigned from her position as head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). She confirmed the move via her Facebook account on Wednesday (22/7/2026), stating she needs to seek medical treatment abroad for a heart condition and is looking for a second opinion on her illness. Despite stepping down, she announced she will take on a new role. In the same Facebook post, she said she will hold the mandate of the BGN Supervisory Board to oversee the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme. “I conveyed to the president with a thousand apologies that I must resign as Head of BGN for the sake of my health, and because the president was concerned and felt sorry for me, the president agreed, but asked me to continue overseeing BGN,” she stated. “The president will likely form a supervisory board where I am asked to become the chair (I think I can still nag, as long as it does not involve handling money, I swear I have acute trauma),” she added. According to Nanik, improvements have already been made at BGN, including forming 11 teams to carry out total reform. “Starting with a refocusing team that ensures whether the more than 62 million current beneficiaries are on target… The President has approved that the MBG programme be more directed at the 3Bs (toddlers, breastfeeding mothers, and pregnant women), elementary and junior high school children, as well as students at all school levels in the 3T regions (disadvantaged, frontier, and outermost),” she emphasised. “There is also an evaluation team for the 27,877 operational SPPG (Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units) kitchens, because not all SPPGs meet the requirements according to technical guidelines. Then there is also a team for the MBG programme in 3T regions… most of which are still difficult to reach by public transport. There is also an efficiency team and others,” she continued. “God willing, my replacement is my junior, whom I can tweak the ear of if deviations occur. I will concentrate on my health first, friends,” she said.
