After Requesting Postponement, Muhadjir Effendy Suddenly Attends KPK Summons Tonight
The Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs, Muhadjir Effendy, unexpectedly fulfilled a summons from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) at the Merah Putih Building, Jakarta, on Monday (18/5/2026). Muhadjir is scheduled for examination in his capacity as the ad interim Minister of Religious Affairs in 2022, concerning an alleged corruption case involving the Hajj quota for the 2023-2024 period.
Observations at the Merah Putih Building showed Muhadjir arriving at 17:54 WIB accompanied by several individuals, dressed in a brown batik shirt, black trousers, and a peci. When asked about the purpose of his visit, he declined to provide specific details, stating, “No, it won’t be announced.”
Previously, the KPK stated that Muhadjir Effendy had requested a postponement of the examination, which was originally scheduled for the same day. KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo noted that the Minister had requested the delay due to prior scheduled commitments. However, despite the initial request for postponement, the Minister appeared at the commission’s office on Monday evening. The investigators intend to deepen their probe into the Hajj quota case, though the KPK has not yet disclosed the specific details or materials to be examined during this session.
