After Raiding 12 Locations, Why Have Police Not Yet Named a Suspect?
The Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Police held a press conference on Friday evening, 10 July 2026, regarding the progress of a suspected corruption case being investigated by a joint team from the Corruption Eradication Corps (Kortastipidkor) and the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimsus) of Polda Metro Jaya.
During the briefing, the Head of Public Relations for Polda Metro Jaya, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, revealed that the joint team had raided 12 different locations. The raided sites included a luxury house in the Sentul area of Bogor, a money changer and cafe in Cipete, and a house in the Cilandak area of South Jakarta.
From these raids, investigators seized a number of pieces of evidence, including a fantastic amount of cash in various foreign currencies and rupiah, gold bars, and various important documents. Despite confiscating evidence of fantastic value, the police have yet to name a single suspect in the case. When asked for the reason, Budi explained that investigators are still probing the matter. Therefore, the police cannot name a suspect until the entire investigation process is carried out thoroughly.
‘For the suspects in this case, currently our investigators are still conducting an in-depth probe. We should all respect this and give the investigators space to complete their task comprehensively and completely,’ he told the media at Polda Metro Jaya. However, Budi assured that the identities of the suspects would be announced in the near future. ‘We will convey this to you all shortly,’ he said. When pressed further on the exact timing of the suspect determination, Budi stressed that the announcement would not be made that night. ‘Not tonight, but in the near future we will convey the matter of the suspects,’ he stated.
It was previously reported that the joint investigation by the Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps (Kortastipidkor) and the Polda Metro Jaya Special Criminal Investigation Directorate into three cases of alleged corruption and money laundering (TPPU) is ongoing. After targeting 12 locations, investigators raided another shop house on Jalan Asem II, Cipete Selatan, South Jakarta, marking the 13th raid. The raid, which took place from Thursday, 9 July, until the early hours of Friday, 10 July 2026, was a development from a series of previous investigations conducted at several locations in Jakarta, South Tangerang, and Bogor.
