JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has once again travelled abroad amid the still uncertain global situation following the US and Israeli attacks on Iran.

This time, Prabowo visited Moscow and Paris to meet two major European leaders, Russian President Vladimir Putin and French President Emmanuel Macron.

How did Prabowo’s safari on the blue continent proceed?

Prabowo met with Putin at the Kremlin Palace in Moscow on Monday (13/4/2026).

In front of Putin, Prabowo was frank that he flew to Russia to consult with Vladimir Putin regarding the global geopolitical situation.

“I also came for consultations because the global geopolitical situation is experiencing very rapid developments and changes,” Prabowo said to Putin.

Therefore, he felt the need to consult with Putin.

“We view that Russia has played a very positive role in facing this uncertain geopolitical condition,” Prabowo stated.

“For that reason, we feel it is very necessary to consult on how we face the situation ahead. And especially, if possible, we continue to strengthen cooperation, particularly in the economic and energy sectors,” he added.

“Several points were agreed upon, including long-term cooperation in the energy and mineral resources sector, encompassing oil and gas energy resilience and downstream processing,” said Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

In addition to the energy sector, the two countries also reaffirmed their commitment to continue and expand cooperation in various other fields, which are deemed to have a direct impact on national development.

“The sustainability of several cooperations in the fields of education, technology research, agriculture, and investments in various sectors, especially industrial development in Indonesia,” he said.

Furthermore, Teddy emphasised that Russia holds a very strategic position in the global chessboard, making the partnership with Indonesia increasingly relevant and important.
