After Lampung, Jokowi Plans Tour of NTT and Central Java, PSI Denies Discussing Legal Issues
Former President Jokowi is beginning to arrange a safari agenda to several regions in Indonesia after completing his visit to Lampung. The East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) region is currently being intensively prepared as the next destination, alongside dozens of invitations from other provinces that are on the consideration list.
Bestari Barus, Head of Political Affairs at the Central Executive Board of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), revealed that preparations for the NTT visit are being taken very seriously given the many locations scheduled to be visited. “God willing, there will be NTT. NTT is being prepared very seriously,” Bestari said when met by journalists at Jokowi’s residence in Sumber, Banjarsari, Solo, on Monday, 13 July 2026.
Bestari explained that every invitation from the total of 38 provinces in Indonesia must go through a strict verification process by the team. This step is taken to ensure the substance of the event and the organisers align with the purpose of the former president’s visit. “If someone invites, you have to check the depth of it. Who is inviting, what is the event. Don’t let it be an invitation for the people to meet Mr Jokowi, but other matters are discussed. It has to be scrutinised first,” he said.
In addition to NTT, one agenda Jokowi is highly likely to attend is a visit to Cirebon, West Java, in September. This plan emerged after the head of the Padepokan Anti Galau Cirebon, Ustaz Ujang Bustomi, came directly to Solo to deliver an invitation. On the same day, Jokowi also received K.H. Muhammad Zulvian from the Al-Falah Kebumen Islamic Boarding School, who had a similar purpose. “It relates to the desire to invite him on these safaris. It seems Mr Jokowi will schedule it,” Bestari said.
Ustaz Ujang Bustomi explained that his visit was to invite Jokowi to his youngest son’s circumcision celebration in Cirebon on 12 September 2026. The event is expected to be attended by 50,000 people. “My youngest child is being circumcised, and he asked for Mr Jokowi to attend. If he doesn’t come, my child doesn’t want to be circumcised,” Ujang joked. He stated he is optimistic Jokowi will fulfil the invitation. “God willing, he will definitely attend.”
On a separate note, Bestari Barus firmly dismissed speculation that Jokowi’s meetings with religious figures involved discussions of other issues, including the legal case involving former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah. “Nothing else was discussed other than those two matters (the safari invitations). Nothing else was discussed,” Bestari stressed.
Regarding various attempts by external parties to link Jokowi’s name to the legal issue, Bestari declined to comment further. “For me, everything is always linked to Mr Jokowi. But we have no response to that matter. Let’s just follow the legal process,” he said.
In addition to the national safari plan, an internal agenda for the Central Java region has also been finalised. The Chairman of the PSI Regional Executive Board for Central Java, Antonius Yogo Prabowo, said his party met with Jokowi on Friday, 3 July 2026, to discuss consolidation plans. PSI Central Java has proposed 35 districts and cities to be visited, supported by the readiness of the party’s machinery structure at the village level, which is claimed to have reached 95 percent. “We are preparing for Bapak to go down and tour Central Java, to ensure that Central Java truly becomes the ‘Elephant’s Pen’,” Yogo said. However, Yogo is still keeping the first location of Jokowi’s Central Java tour a secret. “Just wait for the first one. It will be a surprise in Central Java. We are waiting for the schedule and date from Bapak,” Yogo said, adding that the tour will be packaged attractively through a mix of traditional rituals, carnivals, and Regional Coordination Meetings.
