JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Former Minister of Religious Affairs Yaqut Cholil Qoumas conveyed a short message after being examined by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) at the Red and White Building in Jakarta on Friday (8/5/2026).

As he entered the KPK detention vehicle, Yaqut briefly addressed Social Minister Saifullah Yusuf, alias Gus Ipul, who was also at the KPK building.

“Assalamualaikum, I request greetings to Gus Ipul,” said Yaqut.

He merely smiled and entered the detention vehicle.

“An extension is needed because the investigation is still in progress; the investigators are continuing to examine several witnesses,” said Budi via a short message to reporters on Friday.

Social Minister of the Republic of Indonesia (Mensos) Saifullah Yusuf, alias Gus Ipul, visited the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) at the Red and White Building in Jakarta on Friday (8/5/2026).

Kompas.com observations noted that Gus Ipul arrived at the KPK building at 09:32 WIB accompanied by Deputy Social Minister Agus Jabo Priyono, the Secretary General, and a team of directors from the Ministry of Social Affairs.

Gus Ipul stated that his visit to the KPK was for consultation and to seek advice regarding the procurement of goods and services at the People’s School.

“It’s a visit for silaturahmi, consultation, seeking advice, and also to report on the developments of procurement of goods and services at the Ministry of Social Affairs,” said Gus Ipul to reporters.

He mentioned that his side would report the procurement of goods and services to the KPK to avoid corruption practices.

“Coincidentally, we are also starting the implementation of procurement in 2026; we want the President’s strategic programme, especially the People’s School, not to be tainted by corruption practices,” he stated.

Gus Ipul said that the Ministry of Social Affairs is open to supervision and oversight regarding the implementation of goods and services procurement by the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK), the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP), and non-governmental institutions.

“Well, we’ll see what the advice is and follow it up,” he added.
