After KPK Examination, Acting Cilacap Regent Claims Ignorance of Syamsul Auliya's Extortion Scheme

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Acting Regent of Cilacap Ammy Amalia Fatma Surya completed her examination at the Red and White Building of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Tuesday (5/5/2026). Ammy Amalia was examined as a witness in the alleged extortion and other receipt case implicating the inactive Regent of Cilacap, Syamsul Auliya Rachman. Kompas.com observations showed that Ammy was questioned by KPK investigators for around three hours, from 10:13 WIB to 13:18 WIB. After the examination, the Golkar Party politician claimed she knew nothing about her colleague’s extortion modus operandi to collect Eid Allowance (THR) funds. Ammy stated that the investigators only delved into her statements regarding her duties while serving as Deputy Regent of Cilacap. She reiterated that she had no knowledge of the extortion practices carried out by Syamsul Auliya Rachman for THR funds intended for the Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda). “They only asked if I knew about it or not? Well, I don’t know anything. Then, what are the duties of the deputy regent during this time? Who am I accountable to? Well, I am accountable to Mas Syamsul,” she said. “Today, the investigators scheduled examinations for seven witnesses, one of whom is AAF as Acting Regent of Cilacap,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo in his statement on Tuesday (5/5/2026). Besides the acting regent, KPK also examined six other witnesses, namely Aris Munandar as the Regional Inspector of Cilacap Regency; Bayu Prahara as the Head of the Personnel and Human Resources Development Agency of Cilacap Regency Government; Jarot Prasojo as the Head of the National Unity and Politics Agency of Cilacap Regency; and Indarto as the Head of Fisheries Office of Cilacap Regency Government. Then, Annisa Fabriana as the Head of the Population and Civil Registration Office of Cilacap Regency Government from February 2021 to the present; and Budi Santosa as the Assistant for Administration and General Affairs at the Cilacap Regency Regional Secretariat from 2025 to the present. “All witnesses have arrived at the KPK Red and White Building. Currently, examinations are being conducted by the investigators,” he said.
