After Idul Adha, Bapanas Accelerates Food Price Stabilisation Interventions
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The government is accelerating various food intervention programmes following the 1447 Hijriah Idul Adha holiday to maintain consumer price stability while protecting food producers.
Deputy Head of Food Availability and Stabilisation at the National Food Agency (Bapanas), I Gusti Ketut Astawa, stated that national food prices remain relatively under control after the religious holiday. He noted that the positive trend in national inflation serves as an indicator of price control.
Nevertheless, the government continues to monitor food price dynamics across regions. One key concern is uneven food distribution.
“The common issue is distribution, as production centres are not evenly spread across all regions, and harvest periods vary between areas,” said Maino.
According to Bapanas’s Food Price Panel data as of 29 May 2026, two days after Idul Adha, several strategic food commodities remained within the Maximum Retail Price (MRP) and Reference Selling Price (RSP) ranges.
Meanwhile, broiler chicken prices stood at Rp38,385 per kilogram and eggs at Rp29,469 per kilogram, both below the government-set RSP limits.
However, some horticultural commodities are still under price pressure. Shallot prices reached Rp47,185 per kilogram, above the maximum RSP of Rp41,500 per kilogram. Additionally, red bird’s eye chillies remain a concern due to significant price fluctuations.
Maino stressed that food stabilisation policies aim not only to ensure affordability for consumers but also to guarantee producers receive fair prices to sustain production.
