After Hotel Sultan Execution, Otto Hasibuan's Senayan Golf Course Comes Under Scrutiny

Jakarta – The government is being urged to evaluate the existence of the Senayan Avenue by Ottolima Senayan Golf Club, owned by Deputy Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Corrections Otto Hasibuan, so that it can be utilised for the benefit of the people. This call aligns with the government’s recent move to execute the repossession of the land and buildings of Hotel Sultan in the Blok 15 Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) area, aimed at promoting public prosperity and welfare.

This was conveyed by the Director of Rumah Politik, Fernando Emas, in response to the government’s momentum following the execution of the Hotel Sultan land and buildings in the GBK complex, Jakarta, on Thursday, 18 June 2026. The Hotel Sultan land is a state asset that was acquired by the government between 1959 and 1962 to support the hosting of the Asian Games IV in Jakarta.

“The Senayan golf course area could also be converted into an urban forest or green space,” Fernando stated on Thursday, 18 June 2026. He further suggested that the government could repurpose the land belonging to Senayan Avenue by Ottolima Senayan Golf Club into an office centre or residential area for workers in Jakarta. Fernando believes the government needs to reorganise the function of state assets for long-term interests.

“For example, if the Senayan area is designated as a sports centre, it would be better to expand green spaces or designate other locations, such as Kemayoran, for residential purposes,” he explained. Fernando stressed the importance of the state being consistent in reclaiming its assets that have been managed by private parties, particularly those whose contract periods are about to expire.

He argued that the government should not appear discriminatory by only reclaiming Hotel Sultan, while the Senayan Golf course, which holds significant potential for the state and the public, remains in the hands of certain individuals, especially state officials. “State assets that are reclaimed can be managed by Danantara, thereby providing more revenue for the state,” he added.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of State Secretary Bambang Eko Suhariyanto affirmed the importance of ensuring every state asset is utilised to the greatest extent possible for the prosperity and welfare of the Indonesian people.
