Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that the provincial government will inaugurate 23 to 25 new parks in the near future. According to him, the expansion of green spaces (RTH) is being undertaken to broaden public recreational areas accessible to residents.

“In the coming months, I will be inaugurating approximately 23 to 25 new green spaces,” said Pramono during the inauguration of Heritage Flag Park in South Jakarta on Saturday, 14 March 2026.

Pramono explained that the growth of green spaces in Jakarta is currently quite rapid. This has been made possible because the government is opening opportunities for collaboration with various stakeholders in park development.

He also noted that social and public facilities (fasos-fasum) that are not particularly large can now be developed into parks with the support of collaborative efforts from various partners.

“Social and public facilities do not all have to be large; for example, if they are only 1,000 square metres, we now permit them to be assigned a designated name,” he said.

According to Pramono, this policy is expected to encourage more green spaces throughout Jakarta whilst fostering participation from both the community and government partners.

The Jakarta provincial government continues to promote city parks as modern, inclusive public spaces that are family-friendly.

He expressed hope that the addition of dozens of new green spaces would enhance environmental quality whilst providing Jakarta’s residents with more recreational options.
