JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) has resumed operating the KMP Ferrindo 5 after a grounding incident on Sunday (12/4/2026) around 23.30 WIB in the outbound channel of Pontianak Port.

ASDP Corporate Secretary Windy Andale stated that the company is optimising services on the Long Distance Ferry (LDF) route from Patimban to Pontianak. This route serves as a crucial pathway for logistics distribution between Java and Kalimantan.

“The Patimban-Pontianak LDF route plays a strategic role in connecting production centres in Java with distribution areas in Kalimantan,” Windy said in an official statement on Thursday (23/4/2026).

“Therefore, we have carried out every stage of handling in a planned and disciplined manner in accordance with operational standards, to ensure that logistics services continue to operate safely, controllably, and sustainably,” she added.

ASDP conducted the handling systematically, prioritising safety. This route is deemed critical for the smooth operation of the national supply chain.

Before resuming operations, the KMP Ferrindo 5 underwent a comprehensive inspection. All technical aspects were ensured to be in optimal condition.

“After being declared to meet safety requirements and obtaining the Sailing Approval Certificate (SPB), the vessel was dispatched to Patimban on Thursday (23/4/2026), thereby strengthening inter-regional logistics connectivity once again,” Windy explained.

Pontianak Branch General Manager Adolf Enoch stated that evaluations are conducted periodically through safety meetings. The company also prepares an integrated work plan as an operational guide.

“All technical readiness, including the optimisation of equipment and tugboat support, is ensured to be in prime condition so that the vessel release process can proceed effectively, measurably, and in accordance with safety standards,” Adolf clarified.

The KMP Ferrindo 5 serves the LDF route with a limited capacity of around 60 passengers, exclusively for vehicle drivers. The vessel can also carry approximately 40 mixed vehicles.

“This role makes the vessel an important component in maintaining the smooth distribution of goods, supply stability, and economic connectivity between Java and Kalimantan,” he revealed.

The handling of this incident is regarded as part of efforts to maintain the reliability of ferry services. ASDP emphasises consistency in safety standards and cross-party coordination.

“Through the consistent application of safety standards, strengthened cross-party coordination, and continuous improvement in service quality, ASDP ensures that every voyage not only connects regions but also safeguards the continuity of logistics distribution, which forms the foundation of economic growth,” he asserted.
