After Going Viral as Illegal Parking Spot, Batu Ceper Station Pavement Now Fitted with Concrete Barriers
TANGERANG, KOMPAS.com - The pavement around Batu Ceper Station in Tangerang City, which previously went viral for being used as an illegal parking area, has now been fitted with concrete barriers.
Based on observations by Kompas.com at the location on Thursday (9/4/2026), there are five yellow concrete barriers installed in the middle of the pavement.
This has slightly obstructed the pedestrian path, although there is still a small gap for them to pass through.
One pedestrian, Widya (27), said that the current condition of the pavement looks much tidier.
“Now there are no motorcycles parked, so it’s tidier. But the path is narrower because of this concrete,” said Widya (27) when met at the location on Thursday.
According to her, the illegal parking on the station pavement must be regulated because it deprives pedestrians of their rights.
However, there needs to be a concrete solution from the government so that the installed concrete barriers no longer disturb road users.
“If possible, the concrete barriers shouldn’t be placed like that; they are quite disruptive for pedestrians because in the end, we end up walking on the road shoulder again,” she said.
Meanwhile, a soft drink vendor, Fahmi (not his real name), said that the pavement location is directly guarded by personnel from the Tangerang City Transportation Department (Dishub).
“I usually arrive here from 5 a.m. (05.00 WIB). When I arrive, they (Dishub members) are already on guard,” he said.
According to Fahmi, in addition to guarding around the pavement, the Dishub members also provide information not to park in that location.
