Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Gibran Rakabuming Raka took the opportunity to take selfies with several members of the public after performing Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah prayers at Istiqlal Mosque, Jakarta, on Saturday morning.

Based on ANTARA’s observations at Istiqlal Mosque, Jakarta, on Saturday, Gibran finished prayers and immediately shook hands and chatted with ministers from the Merah Putih Cabinet and several ambassadors.

Gibran also took the time to pose for photos with members of the public who had performed Eid al-Fitr prayers at Istiqlal Mosque. The public appeared enthusiastic to be around Gibran and invited him to take photos together.

Wearing a bone-white shirt, Gibran performed the Eid prayers with his family members, including his son Jan Ethes, and several ministers, including Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar, Minister of Forestry Raja Juli Antoni, Minister of Culture Fadli Zon, Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Nusron Wahid, and Chairman of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) RI Ahmad Muzani.

This year’s Lebaran, the 8th President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto joined the takbiran night in North Sumatra on Friday (20/3) and performed Eid al-Fitr prayers in Aceh Tamiang Regency, Aceh, on Saturday morning.

Although in Aceh, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that the Presidential Palace in Jakarta would still be open on Saturday for the general public to exchange greetings during Eid al-Fitr.

“If at the Palace, in the afternoon, we are preparing halal bihalal and greetings for all members of the public who wish to visit,” said Teddy in Medan, North Sumatra, on Friday (20/3).
