After Eid at Home, Yaqut to Be Re-Examined by KPK

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The KPK has revealed that former Minister of Religious Affairs (Menag) Yaqut Cholil Qoumas (YCQ) will be re-examined in the hajj quota case that has ensnared him. Therefore, the KPK is returning Yaqut to the KPK Detention Centre today.

“Why is he being transferred back today? Firstly, because there is a scheduled request for a statement from him tomorrow,” said Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK, Asep Guntur Rahayu, to reporters on Tuesday (24/3/2026).

Yaqut had been on home detention, allowing him to spend Eid at home from 19-23 March. Yaqut then underwent a health test on 23 March before returning to the KPK Detention Centre on 24 March.

Regarding concerns about the possibility of Yaqut quietly returning to home detention, Asep only stated that the KPK would act based on the needs of the investigation. “Of course, we will proceed according to the requirements in handling this case,” Asep said.

The KPK guarantees that the handling of the hajj quota case will not be hindered despite Yaqut’s temporary home detention. The KPK ensures that Yaqut’s return to the KPK Detention Centre is for the purposes of investigating the case.

“This is to ensure that this case proceeds smoothly and quickly. The reason for returning him is also to accelerate the handling of the case,” Asep stated.
