After earthquake, Pertamina ensures energy supply in NTT remains secure
State-owned energy company PT Pertamina has confirmed that energy supplies in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) remain secure through the Labuan Bajo Fuel Terminal (FT).
Pertamina’s Chief Commissioner Mochamad Iriawan expressed appreciation for the measures taken by Pertamina staff in supporting recovery and maintaining energy stability in NTT following the earthquake that struck several areas of the province.
He said he was impressed by the swift initiative taken by his team on the ground, particularly when road access from Ruteng to Labuan Bajo was cut off due to the earthquake, preventing tanker trucks from passing.
“I am here to see first-hand the spirit of Pertamina’s officers who continue working to maintain energy supplies for the public amid a disaster situation. I appreciate the dedication of the entire team who remain alert in carrying out their duties so that the community’s energy needs can be properly met,” Iriawan said during a visit to the Labuan Bajo Fuel Terminal, as quoted in Jakarta on Wednesday.
The Labuan Bajo Fuel Terminal is one of Pertamina’s strategic energy infrastructures that plays a role in maintaining fuel supply security in West Manggarai and surrounding areas. The terminal’s presence also supports the energy needs of the Labuan Bajo area, which has been designated as a national super-priority tourism destination.
Currently, the Labuan Bajo FT serves energy distribution for four petrol stations, one SPBUN, and three Pertashops, with a storage capacity of 344 kilolitres for Pertamax and Pertamina Dex products.
During the visit, Iriawan directly inspected the condition of the terminal facilities and operational readiness, and ensured that all workers and assets were safe following the earthquake.
According to him, the rapid response across all Pertamina divisions was an important factor in maintaining smooth fuel distribution when land access was temporarily disrupted due to the earthquake’s impact. Through cross-functional coordination and support from various operating units, energy distribution continued to run so that no fuel shortages occurred in the affected areas.
On a separate occasion, Pertamina’s Vice President of Corporate Communication Muhammad Baron said the company continues to monitor developments on the ground and ensure that all energy infrastructure operates optimally.
“Pertamina prioritises the safety of the public, workers, and operational reliability. We ensure that fuel stocks and other energy supplies are in safe condition and that distribution continues to run. All operating units are also on standby to respond to any developments in the field,” Baron said.
Baron added that in addition to ensuring supply reliability, Pertamina is also conducting assessments of operational facilities in affected areas to ensure that all distribution infrastructure remains safe and can function properly.
“Our current focus is to support post-earthquake reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts so they can proceed smoothly. We are working to help by ensuring that energy availability in affected areas can be properly managed,” he said.
