After Digital Gates and GPS, RT in South Jakarta's Gandaria Installs Night Panic Button-Toa

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Chairman of RT 11 RW 7, Gandaria Utara, South Jakarta, Imam Basori, or Ibas as he is affectionately known, has once again pioneered an innovation in his residential neighbourhood. Previously focusing on security through four gates with digital access and GPS systems, Ibas has now introduced an additional security feature in the form of panic buttons and the installation of night-time public address speakers at six points in the neighbourhood, named “Si Jaga Warga”. Ibas stated that this latest innovation is a further development of the neighbourhood security system that has been implemented gradually in his area. According to him, the night-time speakers serve as reminders for residents, especially children and parents, to be more vigilant about neighbourhood security and night-time activities. “It contains appeals to the community, especially children, that curfew is at 10 p.m. WIB, so they should return home and rest. Parents are also reminded about electricity, stoves, and motor vehicles,” he said when met at his residence on Thursday (14/5/2026). He explained that when the button is pressed, RT officials can immediately make announcements via the speakers to request assistance from nearby residents if a certain incident occurs in the neighbourhood. Although the alarm is currently active at only one point when the button is pressed, the RT plans to integrate the entire system so that they activate simultaneously. “But at least, it’s very loud. Initially, from other RTs, everyone came out because of the simulation,” he said. The QR patrol system, according to Ibas, is used by siskamling officers when patrolling the neighbourhood area. According to Ibas, this system replaces manual recording or patrol logging that was previously done in writing. “Each gate is assigned pos 1, pos 2, pos 3, up to pos 5, then at pos 5 they fill in the results from several checkpoint positions, replacing the logbook,” he added. Not only that, the neighbourhood CCTV surveillance system can also be directly accessed by residents via their respective smartphone applications. According to Ibas, this step is taken so that all residents are involved in neighbourhood surveillance.
