JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com — Illegal parking attendants beside Lebak Bulus MRT Station claim they are willing to continue their work on a new plot prepared by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. The plot is located on vacant land beside Poins Square, Jalan Kembang Lestari, Cilandak, South Jakarta. One of the parking attendants, Joni (60), admitted that he actually feels disadvantaged by the crackdown. “Yes, we need it. It’s not possible to work elsewhere, I’m already old, 60 years old,” said Joni when met at the location on Friday (24/4/2026). So far, Joni claims he only earns around Rp 70,000 per day from managing motorcycle parking. He does not set a fee, although service users generally give Rp 5,000. However, not all riders pay. On the day of the crackdown, dozens of motorcycles began to be moved to the new plot. Riders arriving in the afternoon were immediately directed to park at the provided location. Meanwhile, motorcycles still parked on the roadside have not been moved because some are double-locked, making it difficult to evacuate them immediately. “On Monday, they will enter. But try tomorrow also enter (to the new plot), so they don’t get shocked, right,” he said. Besides the parking attendants, street vendors (PKL) selling around the location also once hoped to be relocated to the plot.
