Bima Mayor A Rahman, also known as Aji Man, is once again in the spotlight after swearing in his wife, Badrah Ekawati, as the Secretary of the Bima City Health Agency. In addition to his wife, Aji Man also appointed his brother-in-law, M Auwalyah, as the Head of General Affairs for the Bima City Regional Secretariat. The inauguration and oath-taking for his wife and brother-in-law were conducted alongside 87 other officials at the Maja Labo Dahu Hall, Bima City Government, on Wednesday (1/7/2026). Previously, Aji Man was also known to have appointed his cousin, Irwansyah, as the Head of Goods and Services Procurement for the Bima City Regional Secretariat. Responding to the matter, Bima City Government Spokesperson Muhammad Hasyim had not yet responded when confirmed. In his remarks, Aji Man stressed that the appointments were not merely an administrative ceremony, but a moment of entrusting a mandate that must be carried out with full responsibility. “A position is not a gift, but a test that demands integrity, dedication, and commitment to providing the best service to the community,” Aji Man stated. Aji Man reminded the newly appointed officials not to abuse their authority. According to him, the higher the position, the greater the responsibility that must be borne, not only to the government and the public, but also to Allah SWT. “Make your position an opportunity to provide greater benefits to the community,” said the Democratic Party politician. He also emphasised that the public will not remember how long a person held a position, but will remember the quality of service and dedication provided. “Job promotion is not the only measure of a civil servant’s success, but rather how they continue to provide the best service wherever they are placed,” he explained. Aji Man advised the appointed officials to always safeguard the trust and mandate given to them. According to him, trust is something that is difficult to obtain but very easy to lose if not properly maintained. “Congratulations to all the officials who have been appointed. Let us join hands to build a more prosperous Bima City,” he concluded.
