After Cicadas and Sukajadi, PKL stalls on other road sections in Bandung will be regulated

Bandung, West Java — The West Java Provincial Government (Pemprov Jabar) and Bandung City Government are continuing enforcement against street vendors’ kiosks (PKL) operating on sidewalks and road shoulders. After enforcement in Sukajadi and Cicadas, they will regulate PKL kiosks at other road sections across Bandung.

Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan said that, in collaboration with Pemprov Jabar, they are enforcing kiosks that operate on the sidewalks and road shoulders, such as on Jalan Sukajadi and Cicadas. Going forward, enforcement will continue.

‘Next, there are several points around Monju Monument (Monumen Perjuangan), Dipatiukur, Hasanudin, Bagus Rangin, and Teuku Umar. The areas around there will also be tidied up, and Gelap Nyawang will also be tightened,’ he said at SDN Cicendo, Bandung, on Friday (22 May 2026).

He stated that PKL kiosks cannot be erected permanently or semi-permanently. Farhan said the government’s mistake in the past was to provide semi-permanent space to PKL in public spaces or on sidewalks. ‘Our mistake previously was giving semi-permanent space to PKL in public spaces or on sidewalks. That is what we want to correct,’ he added.

He said PKL may still trade but must first be regulated and organised. One plan is to encourage PKL to sell within markets.

Farhan noted that PKL on Jalan Sukajadi were partly relocated to Pasar Sederhana because the site is still empty. They will allow PKL to sell but must check whether the site is categorised as not allowed or permitted.

‘Come, set up, sell, dismantle and clean,’ he said. He noted that the enforcement of PKL kiosks is targeted to be completed by the end of 2026.
