After Breaking Their Fast, Group of Junior High School Students Clash on Jalan Parangtritis (Paris) in Jogja
Video showing a brawl between students on Jalan Parangtritis (Paris), Mergangsan, Jogja circulated on social media. According to police, one of the student groups had just finished a buka puasa event. In the video posted by Instagram account @merapi_uncover, footage shows a chase and melee between two groups causing traffic to be congested. ‘Tawuran di depan CNB Paris, 2 kubu entah darimana, terjadi tawuran hantam-hantaman sekitar pukul 20.00 di depan Cold N Brew di Jalan Parangtritis, sisa pasukan yang tidak tertangkap ke arah selatan, keep safe, sudah dilerai oleh warga sekitar,’ reads the caption seen by detikJogja on Friday (6/3/2026). When asked for confirmation, Ps Kasi Humas Polresta Jogja Ipda Anton Budi Susilo confirmed the incident. He said it was handled by the Mergangsan Police Sector. Anton said that from the evidence gathered at the scene, it was known that initially at a hotel on Jalan Parangtritis there was a buka puasa gathering for junior high school students from Bantul. ‘In that buka puasa event, alumni were invited,’ Anton said in a statement on Friday night (6/3/2026). ‘At 18:45 WIB, the buka puasa activity for the junior high school was advised to finish by the Mergangsan Police Chief and the Mergangsan officers who were securing and directed south,’ he added. However, not long after the dispersal, the Mergangsan Police Sector received information from residents that the junior high school students’ group encountered a group from another school. ‘In the south or around in front of A&M Co Café or Could and Brew, the junior high group met a group riding motorcycles from south to north,’ Anton explained. The clash between the two groups could not be avoided as shown in the video. On receiving the reports, officers from the Mergangsan Police Sector went to the location and dispersed the tawuran. ‘One person was secured with identity MR (19), a student of Bantul private SMK, resident of Sewon, Bantul Regency,’ he concluded.
