After Being Reported to Police, KPK Spokesperson Also Reported to Supervisory Board by Faizal Assegaf
Director of PT Sinkos Multimedia Mandiri, Faizal Assegaf, has reported the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) spokesperson, Budi Prasetyo, to the KPK Supervisory Board (Dewas). Faizal claims that Budi is steering untrue opinions about him.
“We came to the KPK Supervisory Board to submit an official complaint letter, and we hope that the Dewas, formed with public participation to ensure transparency in law enforcement, particularly at the KPK, will promptly respond to our report,” Faizal said at the KPK ACLC building in Jakarta on Wednesday (15/4/2026).
The report was acknowledged with a KPK stamp dated today, 15 April 2026. Faizal stated that the report specifically targets Budi Prasetyo.
Faizal also addressed the seizure of items conducted by the KPK. He explained that it was not his side that surrendered the items to the KPK investigators; they were not seized.
“So there was no seizure. If it was a seizure, what was the basis? What happened was citizen participation in supporting anti-corruption efforts by surrendering the items, and this is not related to the internal issues at Customs and Excise,” he said.
When contacted separately, Budi Prasetyo declined to comment on the report. Budi has left the follow-up of the complaint against him to the KPK Dewas.
“Regarding the report, I think there’s no need to respond to it anymore; we leave it entirely to the KPK Supervisory Board. Because we believe the Dewas will objectively review and examine the public complaint,” Budi said at the KPK on Wednesday (15/4).
Budi emphasised that his side will focus on handling this case. Today, Wednesday (15/4), the KPK is summoning several witnesses in the case.
“In every case handled by the KPK, it is not only aimed at deterring perpetrators. But also how the KPK can optimally recover state finances or assets,” he explained.
KPK Spokesperson Reported to Police
KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo has also been reported by Faizal Assegaf to Polda Metro Jaya. The report is registered under number STTLP/B/2592/IV/2026/SPKT/POLDA METRO JAYA.
Faizal views Budi’s statements as steering accusations that he is involved in the importation case at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, Ministry of Finance. Faizal said the matter arose on Tuesday (7/4) when he was asked for information and clarification regarding the case.
He said the examination was completed in 30 minutes. He claims there is no involvement in receiving the items in the Customs and Excise importation case.
“There is no involvement of colleagues who received this assistance in the Customs and Excise crime case. Then, as a political critic and activist, I was asked for an opinion. A long discussion ensued,” Faizal said on Tuesday (14/4).
Budi Prasetyo stated he has no issue with being reported to Polda Metro Jaya by Faizal Assegaf. Budi said it is a constitutional right of every citizen.
Budi explained that all KPK law enforcement processes uphold the presumption of innocence principle. He said that as a public body, the KPK carries out its anti-corruption duties openly, transparently, and accountably.
“Therefore, we communicate openly to the public, including on the progress of case handling. Why? So that the public is not only informed about the developments in cases at the KPK, but also so that the public can monitor and oversee the processes carried out by the KPK,” Budi explained.
