A new development has emerged in the alleged corruption case concerning the management of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme for the 2025-2026 fiscal year. Former Deputy Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Sony Sonjaya, who has been named a suspect, has stated his readiness to become a Justice Collaborator (JC) to help law enforcement uncover the case. His willingness was conveyed through his legal counsel, Krisna Murti, after Sony underwent questioning by investigators from the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) at the Attorney General’s Office. “Mr Sony has stated he is ready to become a Justice Collaborator. This determination has been recorded in the examination report at the Attorney General’s Office,” he said on Friday, 5 June 2026. According to Krisna, his client’s move aims to shed full light on the case being handled by investigators. Sony also wishes to prove that he was not the mastermind behind the alleged practice of buying and selling SPPG locations within the MBG programme. Furthermore, Sony is reportedly prepared to reveal other parties believed to be involved in the matter. Based on his client’s account, Krisna stated there are several prominent figures who both knew of and are suspected of having links to the case that is now in the public spotlight. “According to my client, it clearly involves figures from executive and legislative circles. My client is ready to reveal everything,” he said. However, Krisna was not yet willing to disclose the identities of the figures in question. He stressed that all such information would be conveyed through the applicable legal mechanism. He also confirmed that his side would soon submit a formal request to the Attorney General’s Office so that Sony can obtain Justice Collaborator status. “In due course, the names of the figures involved will be disclosed in court. This is a gesture of good faith from Mr Sony so that the case is transparent,” he added. The Attorney General’s Office had previously uncovered alleged serious irregularities in the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meals programme, naming three former senior officials of the National Nutrition Agency as suspects. Former Head of BGN Dadan Hindayana, along with two former Deputy Heads, Sony Sonjaya and Lodewyk Pusung, are suspected of exploiting the construction of Nutritional Service Fulfilment Unit (SPPG) sites through foundations affiliated with them.
