After ASEAN Summit, President Prabowo Visits Miangas

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto arrived in Miangas, Talaud, North Sulawesi, on Saturday (9/5/2026).

The visit was carried out by Prabowo after attending the 48th ASEAN Summit in Cebu, Philippines.

It should be noted that Miangas Island is Indonesia’s northernmost outermost border island, only 48 miles from the Philippines, or about half an hour’s journey by speedboat.

The island is located in Talaud Regency, North Sulawesi Province.

“He returned to the homeland today, but before going to Jakarta, he stopped by for some agendas there (Miangas),” said Sugiono.

Quoted from the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube, Prabowo was seen descending from the presidential aircraft together with Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra and Foreign Minister Sugiono Wijaya.

Prabowo briefly conversed with several TNI members who welcomed him and the airport staff.

Subsequently, Prabowo boarded a vehicle with an Indonesian plate and left Miangas Airport.
