After 5-Hour Meeting with Putin, Prabowo Heads Straight to Paris to Meet Macron
President Prabowo Subianto continued his working visit to France to meet President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday (14/4/2026). The meeting took place at the Élysée Palace.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya explained that the president arrived in Paris, France, on Monday night at 23:50 local time, after undergoing an intensive meeting with the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, at the Kremlin.
“After holding a meeting that lasted five hours with President Putin at the Kremlin Palace, the President immediately departed for France with a travel time of about 3.5 hours and arrived at midnight in Paris,” said Teddy in a statement.
According to him, the quite long duration of the meeting indicated the depth of discussions as well as the seriousness of Indonesia and Russia in strengthening strategic partnerships, particularly in the energy sector, mineral resources, and national industry development.
Upon arrival in Paris, President Prabowo is scheduled to directly continue the strategic diplomacy agenda through a one-on-one meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron, which will take place at the Élysée Palace.
“Tomorrow, the President will hold a one-on-one meeting with President Macron at the Élysée Palace to discuss enhancing strategic cooperation between the two countries,” he said.
Furthermore, he emphasised that the meeting not only focuses on strengthening bilateral cooperation but also serves as an important momentum for Indonesia to convey its strategic views regarding global dynamics.
“In that meeting, besides strengthening cooperation with the French Government, the President will also convey Indonesia’s position in maintaining stability and promoting world peace,” he concluded.
