Chief Executive Officer of the Danantara Investment Management Agency, Rosan Roeslani, revealed President Prabowo Subianto’s message to the directors and commissioners of state-owned banks (Himbara) following a meeting at the State Palace on Thursday (18/6/2026). The meeting, which lasted from 15:00 to 19:22 WIB, covered the overall economy and the performance of the state banks. President Prabowo advised the state banks not to solely pursue profit, but to ensure their presence is felt by the community through providing facilities to MSMEs, commercial entities, and corporations. “Therefore, the President’s direction to all banks, commissioners, and leaders is that Indonesia as a whole is very optimistic and heading in a very good direction,” Rosan said after the meeting. During the meeting, the President also inquired about the valuation of the state-owned banks. Rosan noted that Bank Mandiri is valued at approximately Rp450 trillion based on market capitalisation, BRI slightly above that, BNI at nearly Rp200 trillion, along with BSI and BTN. He stated the combined value is around Rp1,100 trillion, reflecting 10% of the total value of all companies on the Indonesian capital market. With such high valuations, the President stressed the need for prudent business management while ensuring a tangible impact on society, such as providing easier loan facilities for MSMEs, which often struggle to access low-interest credit compared to corporations. The President also hopes the banks will support government programmes while adhering to the principle of caution. “Himbara must be felt by all Indonesian people by providing equal opportunities,” Rosan stated. The economic outlook was also discussed, with positive sentiment expected from the US-Iran agreement and the drop in oil prices to below US$80 per barrel. The meeting was attended by the CEOs and commissioners of BRI, BNI, BTN, Bank Mandiri, and BSI. Rosan also clarified that there was no directive from the President for Himbara banks to hold lending rates, despite Bank Indonesia raising the benchmark rate by 25 bps to 5.75% on the same day. Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto and Danantara CIO Pandu Sjahrir confirmed this, stating the discussion was philosophical and positive, with the expectation that credit disbursement will continue.
