Kabul (ANTARA) - Afghan authorities launched two important infrastructure projects in Herat Province, while three other historic development projects have been completed and handed over to the public, authorities announced on Thursday evening local time (21 May). Herat Province government spokesperson Mohammad Yusuf Sayedi said the construction of a new tower structure in the city centre has begun, along with a new underpass in front of the Herat Regional Hospital in Herat City. The development is part of broader provincial efforts valued at more than 1.6 billion afghanis (1 afghani = Rp281). In a separate development on Tuesday (19 May), authorities laid the groundwork for a large-scale private-sector housing complex valued at $150 million in Balkh Province, Afghanistan. These projects form part of Afghanistan’s broader national strategy to rebuild and modernise the country’s war-damaged infrastructure, with aims to spur economic recovery, promote sustainable development, and raise living standards.
