Afghanistan attacks Pakistan, Pakistan claims to have intercepted four drones

Afghanistan stated on Wednesday that it had launched airstrikes in Pakistan, while Pakistan’s military said it had intercepted and neutralised four rudimentary drones. In a statement posted on platform X, Afghanistan’s Defence Ministry said the Afghan Air Force had launched airstrikes against ISIS terrorist group hideouts in Pakistan’s Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces. The ministry said the strikes caused numerous casualties and significant material losses for ISIS militants and their supporters. On the same day, Pakistan’s military stated it had intercepted and neutralised four rudimentary drones allegedly launched by Afghan Taliban authorities across the border into Balochistan province in southwestern Pakistan. In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations department, the media wing of Pakistan’s military, said the series of drones was launched on 30 June and detected by Pakistan’s air defence network before being shot down with countermeasures. The department warned that any future cross-border violations or threats to Pakistan’s sovereignty would be met with a ‘swift, decisive, and overwhelming’ response. Since 28 June, Afghanistan and Pakistan have been engaged in a new round of military clashes along their shared border, with both sides stating they are targeting terrorist and militant groups.
