Moscow (ANTARA) – Afghan armed forces attacked Pakistani military bases and checkpoints from the border province of Paktika, the Afghan news portal Ariana News reported on Wednesday, citing the Defence Ministry.

According to the report, the Defence Ministry said that at about 1pm local time on Tuesday (08:30 GMT), the Pakistani military launched four drone strikes on a market in the Angoor Ada district and nearby security facilities in Paktika province.

In response, Afghan defence and security forces attacked Pakistani military bases and checkpoints near the site, it said.

Afghanistan’s Defence Ministry said several Pakistani soldiers were killed or injured in the clashes and that their facilities were heavily damaged.

Local authorities added that no Afghan personnel were injured in the incident.

The ministry said Pakistan had initiated the attack and described the Afghan forces’ actions as an effort to defend themselves and protect their territory.
